Job Title: Creative/A&R Assistant **
Reports To: Senior A&R Manager
** Department: A&R, Warner Chappell

**Location: ** Sydney, Australia
A little bit about our team:
Warner Chappell Music Australasia is the local heart of a global publishing powerhouse, operating as a dedicated, high-impact team that consistently punches above its weight. We pride ourselves on being a small but agile force, blending deep local expertise with the expansive reach of our international network to champion Australian stories on the world stage. Our prestigious local roster is a testament to this commitment, housing the enduring legacies of icons such as the writers behind the hits of Australian Crawl and Little River Band, while simultaneously nurturing a vibrant new generation of talent. From the globally resonant indie-pop of Vacations and The Jungle Giants to the boundary-pushing artistry of AViVA and the authentic folk-pop of Ziggy Alberts, we serve as a strategic partner to creators across every era of the Australian musical landscape.
Your role:
The Creative/A&R Assistant is a key support role within the AU/NZ A&R team, working closely with songwriters, producers, and internal creative partners to help move songs from early ideas through to pitching, registration, and release readiness.
You will be embedded in the day-to-day creative workflow of the publishing team —supporting writing sessions, tracking new material, and ensuring the right information flows between A&R, Sync, and Rights at the correct time. This role suits someone looking to build a long-term career in A&R music publishing, with hands-on exposure to the creative and commercial lifecycle of songs.
This part-time position (25 hours per week) requires consistent presence to maintain creative momentum and clear communication across the department.
Here you’ll get to:
• Support the A&R team in the coordination of local writing sessions and writing camps, including scheduling, bookings, and session follow-ups.
• Act as a first point of organisation for post-session materials, collecting demos, lyric notes, and split information and sharing outcomes with the A&R team.
• Track new songs coming through the AU/NZ team, maintaining accurate titles, writer splits, and metadata across internal A&R trackers.
• Assist with the curation and tagging of creative playlists for sync pitching, working closely with the Sync team to surface suitable material.
• Ensure Rights and Royalties teams receive complete, accurate information to support timely registrations.
• Contribute to weekly creative updates across A&R, Sync, and Rights, flagging missing information or follow-ups early to keep projects moving.
About you:
• You are of an entrepreneurial mindset, deeply interested in A&R and the creative process behind songwriting, collaboration, and catalogue development.
• You're confident interacting with artists, managers and the wider industry on a day to day basis
• You understand (or are keen to learn) how songs move from a writing room into pitching, registration, and ultimately commercial use.
• You are highly organised and detail-oriented, without losing sight of the creative context behind the work.
• You’re comfortable working across A&R, Sync, and Rights, and understand why accuracy and timing matter in publishing.
• You’re confident using and creating shared trackers, file-sharing platforms, and streaming or playlisting tools to manage creative assets.
• You have a foundational understanding of copyright, royalties, and PROs such as APRA/AMCOS — or a strong willingness to learn quickly.
We’d love it if you also had:
• Experience assisting an A&R team, artist manager, label, publisher, or creative studio.
• Familiarity with the AU/NZ songwriting and production landscape.
• Experience handling song data, metadata, or creative catalogues.
• A genuine interest in discovering and developing talent over time.
