About CHIVALRY
CHIVALRY is an independent Los Angeles based venue operator and event producer curating year-round live entertainment at several of Southern California's most culturally significant rooms, including Catch One, El Cid, and Don Quixote. Our venues are known for genre-diverse programming, strong community ties, and long-standing relevance in the city's music and nightlife ecosystem.
Led by owner Mitch Edelson, CHIVALRY focuses on sustainable, promoter-driven growth, original event concepts, and long-term artist and partner relationships. We operate across live music, DJ-driven events, cultural programming, and touring productions, supported by in-house marketing and production teams.
Role Overview
CHIVALRY is seeking a Director of Booking & Programming to lead and oversee booking strategy, promoter partnerships, and calendar optimization across multiple venues.
This is a senior, revenue-driving leadership role responsible for shaping the overall programming mix, growing third-party promoter and touring relationships, and maximizing venue utilization and profitability across rooms and capacities.
The Director will manage both in-house programming and external promoter partnerships, and will work closely with ownership, marketing, and production teams to align booking strategy with audience development and long-term brand positioning for each venue.
This role is ideal for a seasoned booking professional or promoter-side operator who understands venue economics, deal structures, and market trends, and who is ready to own programming strategy at the venue-group level.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead booking and programming strategy across all venues and room capacities
• Develop and manage relationships with independent promoters, touring producers, and agency partners
• Structure and approve deal terms including guarantees, splits, co-promotes, and settlements
• Balance in-house concepts with externally promoted events to optimize revenue and audience growth
• Oversee calendar strategy to maximize utilization across weekdays, weekends, and seasonal cycles
• Identify new genres, scenes, and cultural opportunities aligned with each venue's identity
• Analyze performance data and adjust programming mix based on sell-through, margins, and repeat partnerships
• Collaborate with marketing on audience targeting, on-sale strategy, and show positioning
• Work with production teams to scale events appropriately and manage operational feasibility
• Mentor and oversee talent buyers or booking staff as the organization grows
Qualifications
• 7+ years of senior-level talent buying, promoter, or booking management experience
• Demonstrated success working directly with promoters, agencies, and touring producers
• Strong industry relationships across multiple genres and event formats
• Proven ability to evaluate and structure deals with a strong understanding of venue economics
• Experience overseeing multi-room or multi-venue programming calendars
• Strategic mindset with hands-on operational capability
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills
• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial venue environment
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
Compensation
Base salary range: $130,000 – $165,000 per year, depending on experience.
In addition to base salary, there is potential for performance-based incentives tied to overall revenue growth, promoter partnership expansion, and successful new programming initiatives. Incentives are discretionary, performance-based, and not guaranteed.
Compensation and title may expand with demonstrated business impact and organizational growth.
