Seasonal Full Time – Lighting Director (May – September)

The Lighting Director is responsible for the design, setup, programming, and operation of all lighting elements at the Cape Cod Melody Tent. This role ensures high-quality, consistent lighting for a wide range of live performances while adapting to the unique challenges of an outdoor tent.
Duties/Responsibilities
· Design and execute creative lighting plans tailored to a variety of concerts and performances.
· Program and operate lighting consoles, Avolites or RoadHog4 preferred, during live shows, ensuring seamless transitions and cues.
· Oversee installation, focusing, and maintenance of lighting equipment, including fixtures, trusses, cabling, and control systems.
· Collaborate with production managers, sound engineers, stage managers, and artists to meet technical and creative requirements.
· Adapt lighting designs to outdoor conditions such as weather, natural light changes, and a tented environment.
· Supervise and train lighting technicians and stagehands as needed.
· Ensure compliance with safety standards, including proper rigging electrical practices, and emergency procedures.
· Troubleshoot technical issues quickly during live events.
· Maintain inventory of lighting equipment and coordinate rentals or repairs when necessary.
Qualifications:
· Proven experience as a Lighting Director or similar role in live event production.
· Experience or willingness to climb onto high lighting truss for work or repairs.
· Strong understanding of DMX networking, rigging, and power distribution.
· Ability to read and interpret lighting plots and technical drawings.
· Knowledge and experience managing basic theatrical electrical systems/tying in 3rd party power distribution systems preferred.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in live environments.
Physical Demands/ Working Environment:
· Must be available for ALL show dates in the Season, June - September
· Able to lift 50 pounds
· Prolonged periods of standing, bending, walking, twisting, and climbing stairs
· Ability to work outside in varying temperatures, fast-paced and often loud environment
· Reliable transportation to and from work
Compensation
· Rate will be determined based on qualifications within the range of $27-35/hr
