Summary
The Royalties Account Manager serves as a primary point of contact for our client's financial, administrative, and business management needs, ensuring they are handled with accuracy, efficiency, and discretion. This role blends client service, royalty financial accounting and reporting. In addition, the Account Manager will eventually lead and develop their team by managing workloads, overseeing deliverables, and providing ongoing training, guidance, and performance feedback to ensure excellence in client support and departmental operations.
Qualifications, Education & Experience
• Education: Bachelor's degree in music business, business administration, Management, Finance, or a related field.
• Work Experience: 5+ years’ work experience at a record label, publisher, or music business Management firm. Experience in a management role preferred, with a proven track record collaborating with a diverse team.
Required Skills/Abilities
• Industry Knowledge: Deep, comprehensive understanding of companies across artists, publishing, merchandising, neighboring rights, and performing rights organizations (PROs).
• Royalty Accounting: Solid understanding of accounting principles, budgeting, and expense management, with the ability to prepare detailed royalty reports across a variety of aggregators and distributors.
• Legal Expertise: Demonstrated ability to efficiently review, interpret, and analyze a wide range of legal contracts and agreements with precision and accuracy.
• Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of clients, executives, and team members. Lead meetings and provide clear updates to both teams and senior leadership.
• Project Management Skills: Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to implement process improvements, streamline workflows, and adapt to new business or regulatory needs.
• Leadership Skills: Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a team, and foster a positive work environment. Ability to provide constructive feedback, encourage professional growth, and promote accountability within the team.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong excel skills and familiarity with other Microsoft 365 applications, financial software, and project management tools.
Role Specific Responsibilities
Client Royalty Management & Relations
• Facilitate client communications regarding royalty inquiries and deliver timely updates.
• Coordinate with managers, legal, and industry partners on royalty matters, reporting, and guidance.
• Build and maintain relationships with labels, publishers, and PROs to advocate for client interests.
• Maintain oversight of royalty setup, revenue streams, deals, and recoupment.
• Collaborate with leadership to align client royalty strategies with broader business objectives.
Royalty Accounting & Administration
• Ensure accurate collection, accounting, reconciliation, reporting and timely royalty distributions.
• Create royalty statements for recording and publishing clients.
• Track and collect all accounting due to producer clients.
• Conduct audits to identify discrepancies and support projects such as catalog valuations, sales analysis, and deal forecasting.
• Prepare invoices and payments for commissions and third parties and maintain royalty accounts.
**Leadership & Team Management **
• Supervise, coach, and develop Assistant and Junior Account Managers, balancing workloads and supporting growth.
• Hold regular team meetings and one-on-ones to align priorities, monitor deliverables, and ensure client satisfaction.
• Provide training, mentoring, and performance evaluations to drive professional development.
• Oversee administrative processes, including documentation, systems management, onboarding/offboarding, and compliance.
• Model company values in daily leadership, fostering accountability, trust, and a high-performing team culture.

Schedule
This position is a full-time, overtime exempt position and requires candidates to be onsite at our Nashville office location from the hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm CST. This position will be considered for hybrid (WFH) following 90-day period.
